Welcome Clinton Ezeigwe

Clinton Ezeigwe of #ClaimYourWaterRights

Clinton Ezeigwe, our new ELAW Fellow, arrived yesterday! He is an attorney and water activist from Southeast Nigeria.

Clinton coordinates Nigeria’s End Water Poverty #ClaimYourWaterRights campaign, as part of WaterAid/UK. He is pursuing a master’s of global affairs with a concentration in governance and policy at the University of Notre Dame. Earlier this year, he was a Jim Rubin Fellow at the Environmental Law Institute in Washington, DC.

Clinton will be at our Eugene, Oregon, office for one week to learn about ELAW’s work and collaborate on his efforts to protect water rights in Nigeria.

“Water scarcity has impacted me personally,” says Clinton, reflecting on problems facing communities in Southeast Nigeria, where many people travel 3+ kilometers to access drinking water. “I know what every drop means,” he says.

Clinton has served as Campaign Manager at the Christian Fellowship and Care Foundation in Nigeria, leading campaigns on access to safe water and climate justice. His work includes filing complaints to National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs), as well as regulators and local authorities, and holding governments accountable using the international human rights framework.

We look forward to learning more about Clinton’s work and helping him connect with our Law and Science Teams and ELAW partners facing similar challenges around the world.

Best regards,
