World Ocean Day: Actions for Protection and Conservation of the Caribbean

This United Nations’ World Ocean Day, ELAW is collaborating with the Agua Nuestro Derecho collective to host a discussion on “Connectivity from the watershed to the Caribbean Sea.” The focus will be on actions we can take to protect and conserve the Caribbean.

We’ll hear from collective members: Ocean Foundation, Centinelas del Agua, Healthy Reefs Initiative (HRI), Centro Mexicano de Derecho Ambiental (CEMDA), Observatorio para la Gobernanza Marino Costera, and ELAW about key challenges that threaten the health of the region, recent advances, and proposed actions to improve environmental and social outcomes.

Agua Nuestro Derecho is a civil society group working to recognize and defend the Human Rights to water and sanitation, and a healthy environment. Current initiatives focus on raising awareness about the connectivity of water issues across the Caribbean, and how land-based pollution impacts marine sources and groundwater.

Happy World Ocean Day!
