Welcome Zuzana & Adrian
ELAW is pleased to welcome our latest ELAW Fellows—Zuzana Kubíková, from Slovakia, and Adrian Chochoł, from Poland. Zuzana arrived in Eugene last night, and Adrian will arrive tomorrow. Find their profiles below.
Zuzana and Adrian will spend 10 days working one-on-one with the ELAW Team to advance their work advocating for clean air and wildlife in Central Europe. They will also present on a panel at the Public Interest Environmental Law Conference: “Protecting the Environment Through Law in Europe,” Friday, February 28th, 10:45 am – 12:15 pm, University of Oregon, Erb Memorial Union (EMU), Room 231. (Check out the complete PIELC schedule.)
Many thanks to the Trust for Mutual Understanding for making these ELAW Fellowships possible. Learn more about the ELAW Fellows Program here.

Zuzana Kubíková, Legal Assistant at WWF Slovakia, seeks to reduce human-wildlife conflict in Europe and promote mutually beneficial coexistence of humans and wildlife. While in Eugene, she will explore legal frameworks to address situations where wildlife protection conflicts with human safety. She will also research model practices for removal of large dams and discuss the shrinking civic space for, and threats to, environmental defenders.

Adrian Chochoł is an environmental lawyer at Frank Bold’s Poland office. He works to improve urban air quality and hold polluting industries accountable. He is pursuing a doctorate with a focus on analyzing the mechanisms of public participation in environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedures.
In addition to Zuzana and Adrian’s PIELC panel Friday morning, ELAW partner Julia Grix from Australia will present on “Defending Orgs & Activists from SLAPPs and 3rd party shenanigans” at 1:30 pm in EMU Room 231 on Friday afternoon.
