Welcome Shahinaz & Pascal

Please join us in welcoming our new ELAW Fellows, Shahinaz Adel and Pascal Mirindi.
Shahinaz is Executive Director at a new organization, the Egyptian Foundation for Environmental Rights (EFER). Her mentor, Ahmed El Seidi, launched EFER in 2024 following his 2023 ELAW Fellowship.
Shahinaz’s work focuses on protecting the climate and holding polluting industries accountable. Her fellowship is focused on advancing this work, helping her excel in her new leadership role, and participating in the University of Oregon’s American English Institute Intensive English Program.
In 2020, Shahinaz was awarded a law degree from Ain Shams University, Cairo, and a diploma in French legal studies from the University of Jean Moulin, Lyon.
Pascal is an environmental advocate in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He has worked since 2022 to protect communities from short-sighted plans for oil and gas development in Lake Kivu and Virunga National Park. He works with the University of Goma’s Extinction Rebellion and is Board Chair of Congo Green Solution.
During his ELAW Fellowship, Pascal will work with the ELAW Team and participate in the Intensive English Program at the University of Oregon’s American English Institute.
