New Guide to Evaluating EIAs for Oil and Gas Projects
ELAW partners around the world are working with communities to ensure that proposed oil and gas projects do not abuse ecosystems, endanger community health, and destroy the climate. Partners have called on us for the tools they need to ground truth proposed projects and halt damaging projects before they leave the drawing board.
We are pleased to share a new ELAW guidebook, How to Evaluate Environmental Impact Assessments for Oil and Gas Projects.
ELAW’s Law and Science Teams developed this resource to distill decades of experience collaborating with partners around the world to critique project plans.
We hope this guidebook will help level the playing field for citizens challenging powerful oil and gas companies seeking to launch short-sighted projects.
Different types of oil and gas projects have distinct environmental and social aspects that warrant separate discussions. This guidebook aims to be comprehensive. It encompasses all four major categories of oil and gas projects:
- Onshore oil and gas exploration projects
- Offshore oil and gas exploration projects
- Onshore oil and gas production projects
- Offshore oil and gas production projects
Many thanks to the Leo Model Foundation for helping make this guidebook possible.
