ELAW Fellow Kristína Sabova from Czech Republic
A student volunteer group founded in 1995 has grown into the biggest watchdog organization in the Czech Republic. They call themselves Frank Bold, because they are “frank” about their reasons and “bold” about their actions.
New ELAW Fellow, Kristína Sabova, is a lawyer in Frank Bold’s Responsible Energy Division. She arrived in Eugene Sunday night.
“I look forward to working with the ELAW team to challenge industrial pollution and learn about developments in renewables,” says Kristína.
Kristína leads an international team of lawyers at Frank Bold who protect communities from polluting coal plants and advance green energy policy. Her focus is coal plants in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania that are some of the oldest and most polluting in the European Union. Together with her colleagues, Kristína works to hold polluters accountable, advocate for cleaner operations, advance air quality management plans, and enforce emissions standards.
In addition to one-on-one work with ELAW staff, Kristína will participate in the Intensive English Program at the University of Oregon’s American English Institute. Many thanks to AEI for providing Kristína with a Director’s Distinction Scholarship. And thanks also to the Trust for Mutual Understanding for making Kristína’s 10-week Fellowship possible.
