Waste Management (Plastic Carrier Bags and Plastic Flat Bags Prohibition), Regulations, 2018; Statutory Instrument No. 74 of 2018 (1 June 2018)

Bans the manufacture, trade, import, possession, or distributes for commercial purposes plastic carrier bags or flat bags in Botswana. Art. 3(1). Exceptions apply to bread bags, plastic bin liners, barrier bags, plastic refuse bags, and primary packaging. Art. 3(2).

First offence results in confiscation. Second or subsequent offence results in a fine not exceeding Pula 5,000 or 30 days in prison, or both. Art. 5.
