Killian Doherty Environmental Justice Internship - Summer 2022

Killian Doherty Environmental Justice Internship - Summer 2022

The U.S. office of the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) invites
bilingual (English and Spanish or Portuguese) law students to apply for the Killian
Doherty Environmental Justice Internship.

ELAW is a global alliance of lawyers, scientists and other advocates collaborating
across borders to promote grassroots efforts to build a sustainable, just future.
ELAW’s global partners are addressing high impact, complex issues including
challenging fossil fuel projects; reducing plastic production, use and waste;
protecting the climate; defending land rights; securing clean water; conserving
biodiversity and ecosystems; and protecting environmental defenders.

The Killian Doherty Environmental Justice Internship honors our colleague and
friend, Killian Doherty, who exemplified true commitment to environmental justice
in his personal and professional life. Together with Killian’s family, ELAW designed
this Internship to carry his legacy forward.

The Internship is full-time for approximately 10 weeks starting mid- to late May
2022. The Intern will assist ELAW Staff Attorneys in responding to requests for
assistance. These requests generate both short and long-term assignments on a
wide range of legal topics. The Intern will conduct legal research (US and
international law), assist with writing briefs or other legal analyses, and help
identify model laws and regulations. ELAW will provide the Killian Doherty
Environmental Justice Intern with a US$6,000 stipend for the 10-week Fellowship.

We welcome applications from students engaged in at least their second year of
graduate law study (working toward a degree equivalent to at least a JD in the U.S.)
and LLM students. Successful applicants generally possess excellent research and
writing skills and a strong dedication to public interest environmental law. Please
submit a resume and a cover letter that describes your interest in this Internship.
Please include information about whether you prefer to work from the ELAW office
in Eugene, Oregon, or from a different location.

The deadline for applications is December 3, 2021. Applications will be reviewed on
a rolling basis.

Files must be less than 20 MB.
Allowed file types: pdf doc docx.
