Le navire et 60 000 tonnes de charbon restent au fond de l&#039;oc\u00e9an.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ELAW se joint \u00e0 ses partenaires en Inde pour c\u00e9l\u00e9brer une grande victoire qui contribuera \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger les oc\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il y a cinq ans, un cargo est parti d&#039;Indon\u00e9sie charg\u00e9 de 60 000 tonnes de charbon, en direction d&#039;une centrale \u00e9lectrique du Gujarat, en Inde. Il n&#039;\u00e9tait pas en \u00e9tat de naviguer et a coul\u00e9 au large de Mumbai, d\u00e9versant du fioul qui a contamin\u00e9 l&#039;oc\u00e9an et les plages c\u00f4ti\u00e8res. Le gouvernement indien a secouru l&#039;\u00e9quipage et a r\u00e9agi \u00e0 la mar\u00e9e noire, mais le navire et le charbon restent au fond de l&#039;oc\u00e9an.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malheureusement, les propri\u00e9taires du navire et les assureurs ont rapidement ni\u00e9 toute responsabilit\u00e9 et refus\u00e9 de financer les efforts de nettoyage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bonnes nouvelles! Cette semaine, le National Green Tribunal (NGT) indien <a href=\"\/fr\/system\/files\/attachments\/news\/24-2011%28PB-I-Judg%29OA23-8-2016.pdf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" shape=\"rect\">gouvern\u00e9<\/a> le naufrage \u00e9tait le r\u00e9sultat d&#039;une n\u00e9gligence d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9e et a ordonn\u00e9 \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Delta Shipping Co., bas\u00e9e au Qatar, de payer $15 millions pour avoir caus\u00e9 une pollution marine. Adani Enterprises a \u00e9t\u00e9 condamn\u00e9e \u00e0 une amende de $700 000 pour avoir d\u00e9vers\u00e9 du charbon sur les fonds marins. Un comit\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 charg\u00e9 de d\u00e9terminer s&#039;il fallait retirer l&#039;\u00e9pave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab Un grand merci \u00e0 ELAW pour son aide ! \u00e9crit Rahul Choudhary de Legal Initiative for Forest and Environment (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ercindia.org\/?utm_source=Protecting+the+Ocean+in+India+%26+Around+the+World&amp;utm_campaign=Pakistan&amp;utm_medium=email\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" shape=\"rect\">VIE<\/a>) qui repr\u00e9sentait l&#039;\u00e9cologiste Samir Mehta devant le Tribunal national vert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les scientifiques du personnel d&#039;ELAW ont aid\u00e9 les partenaires indiens \u00e0 identifier les impacts nocifs du charbon sur l&#039;environnement marin et les avocats du personnel d&#039;ELAW ont fourni des informations sur les lois internationales qui prot\u00e8gent l&#039;oc\u00e9an.
