Eduardo Arturo Mosqueda Sánchez, a young Mexican human rights and environmental lawyer, was freed after 10 months in detention on bogus charges. Eduardo's arrest was tied to his work with Instituto de Derecho Ambiental (IDEA) on a lengthy land dispute that the Nahua people, in Ayotitlán, Cuatitlán, have with an iron mining company (Consorcio Minero Benito Juárez Peña Colorada S.A.).

ELAW launched a campaign to Free Eduardo Mosqueda and defend his work collaborating with Indigenous people to stand up to powerful mining interests.

A federal appellate court upheld a lower court's ruling that there is no evidence to support the indictment against Eduardo. The federal court nullified the indictment and took the additional unusual step of ordering Eduardo's immediate release.
