Welcome ELAW Fellow from Ukraine

Please extend a warm welcome to ELAW Fellow Hanna Khomechko who arrived from Lviv on Tuesday.

Hanna is Development Director at Environment People Law (EPL), a leading NGO founded in 1994 with offices in Kyiv and Lviv.

EPL was the first NGO in Ukraine to connect human rights with environmental abuses and has won impressive victories for communities through the European Court of Human Rights. EPL has advanced critical environmental legislation, including co-authoring an environmental impact assessment (EIA) law last year year, which makes it possible for Ukraine to maintain standing in the Aarhus and Espoo Conventions.

Hanna will work one-on-one with ELAW staff to explore new tools in strategic planning, project management, communications, and fundraising. Hanna is a Director’s Distinction Scholar at the University of Oregon’s American English Institute (AEI), where she is studying English.

Many thanks to the Trust for Mutual Understanding and AEI for making Hanna’s ELAW Fellowship possible.

ELAW has hosted more than 180 environmental professionals from all over the world for capacity building fellowships. Find more information about the ELAW Fellows Program here.
